    CHAMBER TRAINING ACADEMY
Expert Hour: The Small Business Guide To Finding & Keeping The Right People

This expert session is designed for small business owners who do not have an HR or recruitment team and want a simple, practical approach to hiring well. Many small businesses learn recruitment through trial and error which often leads to wasted time, frustration and the wrong people joining the team. This workshop breaks it all down into clear, human and manageable steps.

    What we will cover:
In this 1.5 hour session we will look at:

    • How to define what you actually need before you advertise
    • How to write an advert that attracts the right people
    • How to shortlist effectively without spending hours reading CVs
    • How to run a simple but revealing interview that shows whether the person will be a good fit
    • How to avoid the most common mistakes that cost small businesses time and money
    • How to keep good people once you’ve found them

Everything is designed with small businesses in mind. No jargon, no complicated models, just clear tools and examples you can use straight away.

    Who it is for:
Small business owners, founders, managers and anyone who is responsible for hiring or people decisions but does not have formal recruitment training.

What people will walk away with:
    • A simple step by step roadmap for their next hire
    • Practical templates and questions they can use immediately
    • More confidence in assessing people fairly and consistently
    • Clarity on what “good” looks like when hiring in a small business
    • A better understanding of how to keep the right people once they join

"Hi, I’m Sam, and I’m the recruitment consultant behind People Finding Consultancy. I find the right people for the right roles, taking the stress out of recruitment and freeing you up to focus on running your business. With more than 20 years of experience, I’ve immersed myself in every aspect of the recruitment and employment process and have worked with organisations of all sizes, from sole traders to blue-chip companies. People Finding Consultancy isn’t a recruitment agency; I don’t have a list of people to sell you. I work in partnership with you to understand your needs – the role, your company values, your industry – then find you the right person who will add long-term value to your business. My superpower is matching people’s skillsets to roles where they can flourish. From job advert creation right through to final-stage interviews, you can entrust the entire process to me."
