JOY NAYLOR – SMMT INDUSTRY FORUM

SMMT Industry Forum was established in 1996 as a partnership between Government and the UK Automotive Industry.
Whilst its original focus was business process improvement in the automotive industry it has evolved progressively into other sectors, both private and public; sustaining its core ethos of Quality, Cost and Delivery improvements through transferring skills and knowledge to its customers, working in partnership to develop a more effective, customer centred service provision.
Success for Industry Forum is measured by the customer’s ongoing ability to implement the business improvement tools and techniques provided under guidance, leading to organisational self-sufficiency, rather than dependence on external agencies.
Joy Naylor has been a key member of the IF team for over 9 years and is one of their most experienced business improvement practitioners. Joy has extensive experience of working with a wide range of customers in diverse sectors; including, Electrolux, Schools Food Trust, Goodrich Aerospace, Northbrook College and Nottinghamshire County Council.

Joys’ background in manufacturing management is underpinned by a degree in mechanical engineering, her particular interests lie with the development and management of people and how this impacts on change management – a key part of any business improvement activity, she is also an associate member of the CIPD.
As a Science and Engineering Ambassador Joy has promoted careers in this sector with young people. Outside of work Joy enjoys independent adventure travel and has trekked the Atlas Mountains, the Himalayas and the Andes.
