Visit websiteis pleased to announce our first Beer & Music Festival which will be held at the Marquis of Granby pub in Sompting over the weekend of Saturday 4th &  Sunday 5th  of September 2010 starting at 12 noon each day.
The Marquis of Granby is under new ownership and has recently undergone a complete refurbishment. Landlords Brian and Stacey have kindly donated the use of their Marquee and beer garden for the festival and we have additional marquees to erect in case our English summer lets us down!


Beers & cidersThere will be over 30 real ales and ciders on sale, full details of the exact line-up can be found below and HERE.
There will also be a BBQ, bar food and a full programme of music, comedy and poetry on both days organised by the Floating Fish Cabaret and local band The Logical Hairs.
There are plans for some children's entertainment in the afternoons which, along with the garden's existing play equiment, will help to provide a real family atmosphere.

This year the governement grass-roots match funding scheme means that every pound we make is doubled by the government!

An old fashioned style of best, brown bitter with a malty after taste. Originally brewed as a house beer for the Old Oak pub, but now being sold as a permanent beer.

American Pale Ale - from the Dark Star Brewery - 4.7%

A yeast strain used for the brewing of the pale dry American Ales was specially imported from the USA, along with some Chinook and Centennial hops, to produce this pale ale. The pale Maris Otter malt provides a perfect light colour and dryness to complement the crisp taste and full aroma of the hops.

This dark beer is brewed making liberal use of chocolate and crystal malt. The beer has the characteristics of a strong porter whilst retaining the distinctive Exmoor taste. A superb blend of malt of hops with a complex long aftertaste.

Velocity Bitter - from the Adur Brewery - 4.4%

A traditional English bitter with a fresh flavour at the lower end of the bitterness scale, Adur Brewery adds a handful of the ruinously expensive German Hallertauer hops just before the beer is fermented and the result has excellent aroma and just a hint of an old fashioned marmalade.

An amber-coloured bitter showcasing the Amarillo hop, which was discovered and introduced by Virgil Gamache Farms Inc in Washington State. It is a versatile hop, giving both flavour and aroma. The aroma is described as flowery, spicy and citrus-like, more specifically you can detect hints of peach and grapefruit. The hoppiness carries over into the taste, together with notes of toffee, malt and grapefruit. There is a good bitterness, and a long dry finish.

Village Idiot - from the White Horse Brewery - 4.1%

In every pub, and allegedly within every Chamber of Commerce, throughout the land, there resides a village idiot, sometimes we are really lucky and have more than one!
Even the most foolish will recognise this distinctively golden beer, only the finest hops are in the White Horse Brewery’s dry store but some maniac has tipped them all in, creating an explosion for the senses.
A golden beer with an abundance of hops, finely balanced by the finest Yorkshire malt and a little wheat malt, which smooth the path to real Village Idiot serenity.

Westons - Bounds Brand - 4.8%

A crisp, dry, fruity, traditional, cloudy Scrumpy cider. Suitable for vegetarians, vegans and coeliacs!

Westons - Hereford Perry - 4.5%

A still, medium Perry fully matured in old oak vats to develop its strength and traditional character.

Thatchers - Cheddar Valley - 6.0%

The colour of this unique cider gives it a vibrant character all of its own for those who want an alternative refreshing drink with a touch of natural sparkle.

Naturally fermented, Cheddar Valley is matured in oak vats to ensure the distinctive full flavour is retained.

Moles - Black Rat - 6.0%
